Pottery and ceramics have been produced in Vietnam for over 2000 years. Dona Pottery produced in South Vietnam, was very popular in the early 1920s through the late 1970s. The time consuming hand etching techniques depicting elaborate Vietnam cultural and historic themes made these pieces very popular. After the Vietnam War ended in the mid 70’s, the etching technique diminished as the older generation died without modern generation apprentices. Dona Ceramic Pottery has become very collectible.

This piece is quite beautiful with lovely pastel colors, depicting life in South Vietnam. I believe each panel is telling a story, The Teacher with Child, he is holding a Peach, and she is holding Peach Blossoms. There are many peach orchards outside of Hanoi. At New Year, every family in Hanoi displays at least one small branch of Peach Blossoms. The older generations believe Peach Blossoms repel evil. There also appears to be Bride and Groom in one panel. I do not know the significance of other panels. I tried and tried to research this Pottery, there is very little information available.

This piece will look stunning in any Home Decor, because of pastel colors, I believe would be beautiful in Beach Cottages. A lovely gift for Housewarming. I can see beautiful sprays of blossoms in this vase during Spring!

THIS CERAMIC VASE IS IN MINT CONDITION, no chips, cracks, repairs, or crazing.
